原人,台湾六年级生,在竹山高中与华梵大学混了七年美术与三年教育学程,毕业与实习后却不想当艺术家与教师。同年暑假初次去了西藏,过程恰巧被拍成公视纪录片《梦.旅人》,之后就一直歪打正着地留在德格宗萨学院学习与协助西藏文化保存工作至今。启蒙老师为宁玛派噶陀传承的堪布久美多杰。 「原人」一名,是大学室友以相貌戏称「猿人」的雅称,而宗萨学院的院长堪布彭朗误以为「原人」是西藏名字,事后便帮我正名为「原旦.仁千」(功德宝),简称刚好就是「原(旦)人(千)」。

  最终,由于我们是谁远比我们拥有什么更重要,所以人类长久以来一直称颂并珍爱那些以卓越的智能、知识著称者,因而学问渊博的人总是备受尊崇。数世纪以来滋养着知名学者努力成果的著名学府,如印度的塔克西拉(Takshila)与那烂陀、中国的北京与清华、英国的牛津与剑桥,当然还有美国的哈佛与耶鲁,由于栽培出许多对我们生活做出深远贡献的大思想家与领袖人物,而持续受到尊重。

 

At the end of the day, since who we are is far more important than what we own, we human beings have long celebrated and cherished those known for their great wisdom and knowledge. As a result, those who are learned have always been held in high esteem, and the most famous universities like Takshila and Nalanda in India, Beijing and Ching Hwa in China, Oxford and Cambridge in England, and of course, Harvard and Yale in the US, where the work of renowned scholars has been nurtured for centuries, continue to be honoured for having produced so many of the great thinkers and leaders who have made such profound contributions to our lives. 

  

  尽管四川宗萨寺地处边陲,并不广为西藏以外的地区所熟知;然而,综观过去年来,与该寺庙、附属学院及禅修中心有密切关联的世俗或宗教领域的伟大学者、医药专才、治疗师与领袖们的记述,显然地,宗萨寺被认为堪与这个时代的卓越学习中心相比拟。在寺院的院墙内,单单是著述编纂的书籍,如果没有数千册,也有数百册,主题涵括心理学、心智科学、医药,当然还有灵性书籍。对于那可能被认为是外来的、过时的文化,宗萨寺是一处文化续存的避难所;不仅如此,也多亏当地居民与寺院成员的韧性与勇气,宗萨寺已证明自己的确是一个弘扬智慧传承的伟大中心。

 

Isolated as it is, Dzongsar Monastery in Sichuan is not well-known outside Tibet. However, if we look at the accounts of the great scholars, medical specialists, healers and leaders, both secular and religious, who have been closely associated with the monastery, its schools and meditation centres over the years, it is clear that Dzongsar is a worthy of being considered the equal of the preeminent centres of learning of this age. Hundreds, if not thousands of books alone have been written, compiled and edited within its walls, on subjects including psychology, the mind sciences, medicine, and of course, spirituality. Not only has Dzongsar monastery been a haven for the preservation of what might otherwise be considered an exotic and outdated culture, thanks to the resilience and courage of local people and members of the monastery, it has proved itself to be a truly great centre for the propagation of the wisdom tradition.

 

就如同我们今日缅怀百年前在宗萨寺生活、工作的学者与大师们之遗芳,如果百年后,接下去的世代敬重怀念那些目前正努力延续这独特传承的人,我也毫不惊讶。然而,当极端的物质主义价值观与急功近利充斥着多数人的心灵时,即使是像宗萨寺这样一个非凡的地方,也需要某种引介。这就是为什么我相当高兴原人写下这本书,我相信它将会为所有阅读此书的人开启了解之门,而对此卓越之地及其文化与人的认识,将有利于现代世界中求知欲日增、节奏快速的人,特别是在中国。

 

 Just as today we honour the memory of the scholars and masters who lived and worked in Dzongsar monastery one hundred years ago, I wouldn’t be at all surprized if in another hundred years subsequent generations will be honouring the memories of those who are currently striving to keep this unique tradition alive. However, at a time when extreme materialistic values and the longing to make a quick profit fill most people’s minds, even somewhere as remarkable as Dzongsar Monastery needs some kind of an introduction. And this is why I am so glad that Ruen Ren has written this book which will, I am sure, unlock the doors of understanding for all those who read it, so that knowledge of this sublime place, its culture and its people will be of benefit to the increasingly acquisitive, fast-paced peoples of this modern world in general, and of China in particular.
